Year end review

Just don’t understand how times flies!  It’s the end of the year again!  I should have written this earlier, but same as last year, I just couldn’t find the time to sit down and write this till the last day of the CNY!

Year 2011 in Review - World

1. The Arab Spring / Jasmine Revolution
2. Earthquake in Japan
3. Death of Osama bin Laden
4. The Royal Wedding of William and Kate
5. ......

Year 2011 in Review - Hong Kong

1. Preparation for the Chief Executive Election
2. Success of appeal for the HZMB JR
3. Right of abode for the domestic workers
4. Overloading of hospitals due to influx of Mainland mothers
5. DC election
6. ......

Year 2011 in Review – Myself

Had many first attempts this year~

1. First time to curl my hair, but later found it too troublesome and so cut it short and dyed it brown
2. First time experience to learn to be an MC
3. First time to try acting in a drama
4. First time to try oil painting and water colour painting
5. First time on photo developing (and fainted on my first time entry to a darkroom!)
6. First time to participate in a photo exhibition
7. First time experience to work as a polling officer in the district council election
8. First time to act as landlord (for mom and dad) and let out our old home
9. First attempt on interpretation exam

Gosh! Looks like that I have had a very colourful life last year!!!

One of the reasons why I tried so many new activities this year was that my best friend’s husband got involved in some extra-marital affairs, ending up in separation.  The only help that I could offer was to accompany my friend to explore new activities, to help her to adapt to her new life.  Witnessing how trust, which was built up over ten years, could be destroyed in just a second, this incident had a great impact on me (and my mom as well, who had stopped nagging me to get married).  Human relationship, no matter in family or in office, is really the most difficult and challenging issue to deal with.  No matter what – still the same conclusion as last year’s - I do think we should really appreciate and treasure what we have already got and don’t use a magnifying glass to look at what we haven’t got.  May health and happiness be with all of the people in this world!

Photo Diary 2011-08

Painting??!!

Hm.... Still remembered that ever since kindergarten, my dad paid to let me go for drawing lessons.  However, at around primary three or four, I told dad that I didn't want to go for drawing classes anymore.  I didn't remember why I made this request to dad, but maybe because ever since a small age, I know that I don't have any talent at drawing/painting at all...

A few years ago, I went for Chinese painting class - I think I did the Chinese painting as though I was making engineering drawings.  Everything I drew were straight and tidy - no artistic sense at all.

This year, out of persuasion from my colleagues, I went to try acrylic painting (similar to oil painting) and also water colour painting.  So, here comes more proof that I don't have any artistic talent.

These are my first acrylic paintings, copying Monet's paintings.

This is what it should look like.

The second one, still copying Monet's.

A third one, still Monet's.

The original version.

This one is of Van Gogh.  The teacher commented that I drew it in the style of a Christmas card, whereas this painting should reflect a very sad mood.  However, the teacher only gave his comments AFTER I had finished the drawings and didn't teach me how to improve.  So, I decided to stop going to this teacher's class.

Here comes my water paintings:-

The first one is really messy - didn't know how to control the water and the water colour just spread in whatever way they like...

The second one

Third one

Fourth one - I did improve a little bit, right?

Fifth one

This is the teacher's painting - my standard is still far, far, far away from the teacher's.

This final one is a portrait - it's a bit awful - don't think water colour is suitable for painting portraits.

Photography trip to Lianzhou - July 2011

In July 2011, I went on a photography trip to Lianzhou for three days.  It was fun to go on a trip with other photography-lovers, and I did learn a lot from them.  The trip was really great, except that we had to get up at 4.30am every morning for the sunrise!  No pain, no gain - the beautiful photos taken taken were worth the effort to wake up early!!!

This is the very first photo that I have taken during the trip, which turns out to be the photo that I am most satisfied with!!!!!!!!

Nice silhouette with the sunrise!

Group photo....

A group photo of the expensive cameras...

We can still take photos, when all the cameras have been put on the ground!!!
